This week we are joined by Nathan Mueller, a designer and photographer based in San Diego who spends his days art directing and producing editorials for The Venue Report and spends his nights and weekends living a full and beautifully adventurous life with his girlfriend, Hannah. This is Nathan on Sundays:

What’s on your bedside table? Vitruvi Oil Diffuser, Idyllwild Essential Oil by Norden Goods and a NORDMÄRKE wireless charger from IKEA

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? Instagram, Twitter, Instagram again, then emails, then coffee

What does your perfect Sunday entail? My girlfriend Hannah & I love Sunday brunch, our current favorite spot is the new Jeune et Jolie where we get a round of oysters to start, the tartine with country ham, and of course beignets and espresso. In the afternoon we often walk along the beach in Cardiff, California and then usually do grocery shopping and meet family for a nice Sunday night dinner.

“Sundays are days made for rest, reflection, and exploration.”

What is your favorite thing about your home? The comfort. Everything flows so well because it has a purpose or a sentimental value from places I’ve gone or memorable experiences.

What’s one quote that has stuck with you? “That you are here—that life exists and identity, That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.” — Walt Whitman, O Me! O Life!

What time of day are you most productive and why? Mornings --- when my mind is fresh and the sun is still high in the sky. I’m the most productive when there’s a natural breeze, sunlight and espresso by my side.

You have a fantastic Instagram, what’s your favorite filter? Wow thank you, I love VSCO’s M5 for it’s natural brown tones and always works well when capturing bright interiors, expansive environments or portraits which I love.

What’s one secret spot in your city that you love? Home now is Cardiff by the Sea, California. I love the strand of beach from San Elijo State Beach to Swami’s, from the tide pools and the way the sunlight reflects off of the cliffs, it’s heaven.

If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be? Pasta, any pasta. I’ll eat it all, anytime, anywhere. Just feed me pasta.

What’s the last thing you do before you go to sleep? Saying goodnight to my girlfriend Hannah, and most recently, I fall asleep watching episodes of Schitt’s Creek.

Weirdest dream you’ve ever had? Wow, I can’t remember the last time I had a dream… the closest I’ve come to having a dream was singing “I Have a Dream” from the Mamma Mia 2 Soundtrack.

Any rituals? When I get home after a long day, I like to open all the doors and windows in my apartment for a cool breeze, light a candle and play Ben Howard albums to wind down.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you choose? Providence, Rhode Island. The artful college town with the history and architecture right on the water a combination of everything I love in the world.

What’s your favorite cocktail? Anything with mezcal and a lime.

What are you currently reading? I just started rereading Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, I’m attracted to the the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, that is dramatised throughout the novel.

How do you practice Self Care? Sundays are days made for rest, reflection, and exploration. They are the best of days. Live everyday like it's a Sunday.
