Every Sunday we release The Journal, a weekly collection of musings on lifestyle, wardrobe, and culture—in efforts to redefine what it means to come home.

Harper on Coffee Breaks

There are three major universal languages–math, music, and coffee. In our Coffee Break series we will be sitting down to discuss the latter of the three, by featuring a guest editor and new city with each entry. Our first guest editor is Harper, a Bay Area based travel enthusiast, brand strategist, and lover of a good photo op.

Harper took us to his favorite San Francisco coffee shop, Verve Coffee Roasters. Verve is a small Santa Cruz, CA based chain that opened in 2007. With locations in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and even Japan this popular coffee spot focuses on working super closely and intimately with the farmers who provide their beans through their Farmlevel Initiative.

“Verve is a coffee lovers dream. The beautiful design and aesthetic inspired by the Bay Area's fog, coastline and streets make for an incredibly cozy and beautiful space to pop in quickly or spend an afternoon with great latte, snack and a book. I live down the street and love stopping by to catch up with my friend Russell before work or get a Sunday afternoon pick-me-up with my boyfriend :)”
